Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. The Western Hemisphere Regional Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) Program responds to continued requests from migrants in the region who express interest in returning to their countries of origin due to a variety of personal and family reasons but do not have the financial or other means to do so. Under the direct supervision of the Project Specialist of the Program, the operation assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Inform migrants who are interested in joining IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return Program about the whole process and nature of the program.
2. Interview migrants requesting assisted voluntary return to assess and determine willingness and eligibility to join IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return Program.
3. Make referrals to competent institutions or organizations according to the vulnerabilities identified in beneficiaries during the interview and return process.
4. Facilitate the filling out of the forms by migrants and collect the corresponding signatures and/or fingerprints.
5. Make logistical and administrative arrangements for returns (pre-departure, transit, and post return).
6. Notify the IOM country of origin and transit of assisted voluntary return movements via email to provide the necessary documentation, in accordance with the procedures established by the IOM.
7. Coordinate with Movements colleagues for the purchase of tickets.
8. Accompany migrants to the airport for pre-departure, transit, or reception assistance.
9. Verify that the travel conditions of migrants are conducted appropriately and safely, under the procedures and practices established by IOM.
10. Keep a physical file of the documentation for each case, safeguarded under IOM data protection principles.
11. Prepare reports as requested with the data of the assisted beneficiaries.
12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requisitos Adicionales:

EDUCATION
• Bachelor´s degree in International Relations, law, international cooperation, Political or Social Sciences

EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience working with migrants in migration assistance and counselling.
• Experience working with international organization will be an advantage.

SKILLS
• Knowledge of international organizations, non-governmental or governmental organizations.
• General studies in migration will be an advantage.

LANGUAGES
